POSITION SUMMARY
Canadian Stage seeks a strategic thinker and passionate arts marketer for a new position in the
organization: Senior Manager, Marketing and Audience Advancement.
Reporting to the Director of Marketing and Communications, this position is a key member of the
marketing team with a focus on new audiences through data-driven tactics and channels, including digital
marketing, out of home marketing, partnerships, and more.
This position supervises the workflows and outcomes of the Digital Strategy and Communications
Manager and Publicist, and is supported by various positions within the marketing department.
This position presents an exciting opportunity for an existing or emerging leader to contribute to the
growth and flourishing of theatre and the performing arts in Toronto by attracting audiences to one of
Canada’s most storied theatre companies. The successful candidate will work closely with the Canadian
Stage Management Team, executive leadership and cross-departmentally to embed excellence in
strategic communication and planning across the organization.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Primary Responsibilities
- Co-Creation of Marketing & Sales plans for every production across all key segments
- Create and deploy effective digital marketing campaigns in Meta and Google Ads
- Responsible for weekly and monthly single-ticket sales reporting and KPIs
- Supervise and approve all email marketing content planning by season and by campaign
- Envision and manage auxiliary audience engagement events and activities with CS and partners
- Develop and implement single ticket marketing plans and strategies that meet annual and byshow targets
- Develop and implement sales and engagement journey-paths that increase frequency
- Develop and execute production advertising (digital, print, outdoor, radio, etc.) that are bold and
effective. - Develop and nurture promotional partnerships (sectoral, print media, radio)
- Approve and ensure high-impact cross-platform digital content
- Provide direction and approval of show-related marketing materials (e.g. design, execution,
distribution) including out of home, signage, print, digital, website, etc. - Act as CS's representative in the coordination with co-producers on promotion and new audience
marketing - Develop and nurture promotional partnerships with community / demographic influencers and
leaders - Develop and execute unique promotions or/and cross-promotions
Experiment with new and innovative approaches to deepen relationships and engagement with
new communities - Ensure best-in-class use of codes, testing and analytics to refine approaches and meet/exceed
targets - Supervise and ensure organic social media that is on-brand, planned, interesting, and strategy-led
- Approve messaging toolkits to aid cross-promotional social media campaigns
- Create key communications messaging that supports by-show and org-wide communication
objectives - Manage freelance publicity, including supervision and approval of releases, materials and
engagements - Analyze ticket-buyer trends and preferences through quantitative and qualitative research
Secondary or Supporting Responsibilities
- Contribute to the creation of Marketing & Sales plans for every production across all key
segments - Contribute and support department revenue and expense budget and planning
- As appropriate, contribute to email marketing content planning
- Provide input in the development & refine CS' communications playbook
- If and as needed, provide support to annual and quarterly Subscription Campaign plans
- Other duties as required
KEY COMPETENCIES AND QUALIFICATIONS FOR THIS POSITION:
- You might have a post-secondary education, perhaps in marketing and communications. But,
more importantly, you have at least 3-5 years of progressively responsible experience in
marketing/advertising for in the performing arts and ticket-based sales. - A proven record for moving ticketing inventory.
- Strong organizational, project management, analytical and interpersonal skills
- Experience in paid digital marketing including Meta, Google AdWords and Google Analytics
- The ability to adapt and respond to learnings, critique, and input.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects on time and on budget.
- Demonstrable skills to interact effectively with team members to direct workflow, assess
performance, and assign duties. - Strong knowledge of CRM and other data collection and analytical systems
- As a steward for internal and external communications, you have cultural competencies that are

communities.
