ABOUT THE POSITION AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The High Park Operations Manager will be the primary supervisor for this position. The Rentals and Merchandise Supervisor oversees the hospitality booth at Canadian Stage's annual summer event, Dream in High Park, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable experience for patrons. This position plays a key role in delivering an exceptional patron experience throughout the duration of Dream in High Park while helping maintain operational efficiency and delivering Canadian Stage’s best-in-class patron services.
Seasonal hires employed by Canadian Stage will be exposed to a wide range of live performance companies and gain firsthand operational experience through their interactions with these organizations, an invaluable advantage for artists at the beginning of their career and conferring them greater agency when they enter into the job market. The Rental and Merchandise Supervisor will be monitored and provided with daily guidance, in addition to a mid-summer performance evaluation to discuss successes, challenges, and progress towards learning goals.
The position will receive health and safety orientation, including Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS), and workplace violence and sexual harassment training, at the beginning of the placement. They will be closely supervised during the placement to ensure that Health and Safety guidelines are being followed. They will participate in the First Aid training and emergency procedures prior to the run of the show.
This is a temporary full-time contract position, from July 7 – August 30. This position requires a work week comprised of 35 hours spread over six days (Tuesday to Sunday), with the working hours in late afternoon, evenings, and weekends. Monday is the day off. The rate of pay is $22/hour.
Key Responsibilities

Manage the sale and rentals of comforts such as cushions, blankets, and refreshments

Tracking and accounting for all sales, including generating nightly sales reports

Maintain an inventory of rentals and merchandise – potentially including caps, t-shirts, and other items

Coordinate with the Manager of Ticketing and Audience Services to restock merchandise as needed

Responsible for the set up and teardown of the merchandise and rental area

Facilitate cash and card transactions for rentals

Responsible for transporting materials between the High Park Amphitheatre and Canadian Stage’s administrative offices
Requirements

At least 1 year in customer service positions is preferred
-
Superior customer service skills and a friendly, outgoing nature
-
Prior experience in retail sales or comparable customer service is an asset

Ability to work outside in variable weather conditions during the summer

Must be available to work evenings, weekends and statutory holidays

Punctuality and reliability, especially during high-volume, busy times at High Park

Valid Class G Ontario Driver’s License
