About King Lear
As a method of dividing her kingdom in three parts, Queen Lear demands that her daughters, Goneril, Regan, and Cordelia compete in declarations of their love for her. Misjudging her children's loyalty, she soon finds herself in the middle of a civil war, stripped of her family, kingdom and crown.
About Twelfth Night
A young noblewoman, Viola, is separated at sea from her twin brother Sebastian and tossed upon the shores of Illyria, where the love-sick Duke Orsino pines for Countess Olivia and mischievous servants plot foolish pranks at each other's expense.

Volunteer for Shakespeare in High Park with Canadian Stage
Play a starring role this summer in Toronto's longest-running and most popular outdoor theatre event! Canadian Stage invites individuals to spend evenings under the stars volunteering for the 34th edition of Shakespeare in High Park as we present William Shakespeare's Hamlet and All's Well That Ends Well. June 30th to September 4th 2016.
Canadian Stage is seeking reliable individuals, 15 years of age or older (12 or older if volunteering as a family), who are friendly, enjoy theatre and have excellent customer service skills to join our diverse team of volunteer ushers at Shakespeare in High Park. Responsibilities include greeting patrons, accepting donations, answering questions and assisting our patrons finding seats. Shifts are available onsite in High Park from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm, Tuesday through Sunday, from June 30th to September 4th. Volunteers are required to complete a minimum of six three-hour shifts over the summer. Full training is provided.
Volunteers see Hamlet and All's Well that Ends Well for free and are also rewarded with tickets to Canadian Stage's upcoming season, a Shakespeare in High Park volunteer t-shirt to work in, backstage tours, an invitation to our annual appreciation barbeque, games and prizes. Volunteers will also develop leadership and customer service skills. All of our volunteers become a member of the Toronto Attractions Council Reciprocal Program where you receive unique offers to many of Toronto's fun summer attractions! In addition, students can earn hours towards their community service requirements as well as a letter of reference for future job searches.

What is Shakespeare in High Park?Founded as Dream in High Park in 1983, Canadian Stage's Shakespeare in High Park is Canada’s largest and longest-running professional outdoor theatre event taking place at the picturesque High Park Amphitheatre. Two alternating productions – one comedy, one tragedy – are presented throughout the summer.
How much does it cost? This is a pay-what-you-can, general admission event. Admission is always free for your kids (14 and under). To help us cover the costs of producing Shakespeare in High Park, we recommend a suggested donation of $20 at the gate; cash, debit, and credit are all accepted. Gates open at 6pm, so come early to snag the best spots on the hill!
Can I get tickets in advance? For a $25 donation, you can reserve a cushion in the premium zone for your preferred performance. Print out and present your ticket at the gate and you're set. Seats within the premium zone are available on a first-come, first-served basis, and we can only hold them until 7:45pm.
Premium seats are available by donation online or by phone at 416.368.3110.
Reservations are accepted until 5pm on the day of the performance.
What if it rains?Because summer weather can change on a whim, rain and lightning conditions are assessed at 8pm. If the show can't safely proceed without endangering the cast and audience, we'll cancel the performance and issue rain vouchers for another performance (subject to availability).* We recommend bringing an umbrella in case of light drizzles during the performance.
*Please note rain vouchers may be exchanged in advance by calling the box office before 5pm the day of the new performance.
