Canadian Stage is pleased to announce the programming for its third annual Festival of Ideas & Creation. Festival Director Natasha Mytnowych and Associate Festival Director Claire Calnan have assembled a dynamic line-up of artistic classes, conversations and discussions and presentations of new and exciting theatre projects exploring the creative process, with many events free and open to the public.

The Festival of Ideas & Creation is an annual artistic festival for artists, youth and the general public. It offers opportunities for local and national professional artists and youth to develop and present new work and evolve their artistic practice. It integrates the Company's year-round artistic development initiatives and is programmed in collaboration with a wide array of artists and arts organizations. The Festival is also an opportunity for audiences to look behind the scenes and explore and participate in the development of new work.

In 2010 the Festival explores the themes of Translation and Adaptation: of languages, of images and of disciplines in the creation of performance-based work. Festival highlights include the public readings of over 30 new Canadian plays, translations and adaptations from award-winning artists such as Linda Griffiths, David S. Craig, John Murrell, Larry Tremblay, Leah Cherniak, Banuta Rubess and Carole Fréchette as well as exciting new voices such as Serge Boucher, d'bi.young anitafrika, Tara Beagan, Marjorie Chan, Nicholas Billon, and Canadian Stage's GYM Program; public conversations with landmark artists including Tim Albrey, Linda Gaboriau, Peter Hinton, Guy Mignault, John Van Burek, Soheil Parsa, Morris Panych and Artistic & General Director Matthew Jocelyn; Artist Intensives with acclaimed practitioners such as Bretta Gerecke, Stephen O'Connell, and Shelley Tepperman among others; and youth presentations by Canadian Stage's Young Company, The Innovators Creation Program, the Art in Leadership Program, and others.
