Programs for Family and Youth

Join us for some of our exciting Youth and Family Events, including Family Day Sundays, the popular, free, all-ages program for children and adults. All family activities are free but advanced registration is advised.

Family Day Sundays

Interactive Family Day Sundays invite parents and children of all ages to explore the magic of theatre together. Go on a backstage tour and take part in games and activities that explore aspects of acting, rhythm, dance, music. You might even have a chance to meet the actors! Family Day Sundays provide a fun-filled learning experience for the entire family!

Canada Dreams

Why not celebrate Canada Day with Canada Dreams, an exciting family celebration at the Dream in High Park, followed by a free performance of Romeo and Juliet. Join us for a special day of family-friendly activities, including games and workshops with actors from the show, a backstage tour of our unique outdoor set, an interactive Juliet wall, carnival games, a bouncy castle, crafts, music, cake and more!

Sunday Night Music Series

Enjoy the music of independent artists from across the city before Sunday night performances of Romeo and Juliet. Relax on the hill with a picnic and the sweet sounds of the emerging music community.

Words in Action (ages 8 to 14)

Join Dream cast members and explore the wonder and power of Shakespeare’s language through Words in Action at Toronto Public Libraries.

Summer Camps (in partnership with the Design Exchange)

Drama + Design – ages 7 to 13

July 19 to 30 (performance for family and friends, Friday July 30)

Participants in this one-week theatre and design camp will spend half days developing a performance and half days designing the costumes, props, and sets.  On the first or second Wednesday evening of the camps, all enrolled campers and their parents will be treated to a performance of the Canadian Stage TD Dream in High Park, including a backstage tour. Participants will also have a chance to perform for family and friends!

Dance + Design – ages 7 to 13 

August 9 to 13 (performance for family and friends, Friday August 13)

Participants in this two-week musical theatre and design camp will spend half days developing a rollicking dance numbers and half days designing the costumes, props, and sets. On the first or second Wednesday evening of the camps, all enrolled campers and their parents will be treated to a performance of the Canadian Stage TD Dream in High Park, including a backstage tour. Participants will also have a chance to perform for family and friends! Youth Night @ the Dream

Youth aged 14 - 21 are invited to celebrate and explore Toronto's fantastic arts opportunities in a day filled with creative and hands-on workshops, performances by youth arts programs, music, art installations, backstage tours and more. Afterwards, all participants are invited to stay for a free performance of Romeo & Juliet. Contact youth@canadianstage.com to register.
